They do not call Tone House the “hardest workout in NYC” for nothing! Tone House is the first-ever extreme, athletic based group fitness studio. They aim to bring sports conditioning workouts to the mainstream. Each class starts with a team chant and a 10 minute warm up (which is said to be one of the hardest parts!). There is then transitions of different exercises from resistance and velocity training techniques. Each session ends with a team chant and a stretch/cool down.
Although it may seem intimidating (sandbag pushing is so not my forte), each coach and trainer were extremely encouraging and didn’t leave anyone behind. If you told me I would have been to Tone House classes (and am looking forward to my next one!) a year ago today, I probably would have laughed. I genuinely enjoy challenging myself, and my body with new workouts and Tone House is the perfect place for that. I am by no means an athlete, but I definitely feel myself getting stronger and pushing my limits both mentally and physically every time I step on the turf.
I have only taken TH 101 classes, which is the recommended class to take for your first 3 times. It is said to avoid Friday classes, cause those are conditioning classes until you are ready for them!
Tone House also has a Tone House FUEL program which is a clean-eating program to help maximize recovery and boost results. Although I haven’t tried their food, they look tasty and seem like perfect post workout option.
Amenities: Tone House has a locker room which includes showers, a blow drier, and other toiletry items. The NoMad location has a hot tub, for post workout recovery. The UES location shares their building with CYC cycling and BFX, so shower space is limited.
Price: $40 for a Rookie Special of 2 for 1! They are on ClassPass!
